The California Council of the American Institute of Architects will sponsor a conference geared toward issues facing the state’s architects, Thursday through next Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Monterey.

Speakers and workshops will examine professional liability issues, trends influencing the practice of architecture, client presentations and office practices. Exhibits of architectural products and services and award-winning buildings are open to the public throughout the conference.

Richard Seth Hayden of New York-based Swanke Hayden Connell, the architectural firm that handled the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, will give a free public lecture Saturday, describing the statue’s restoration process.
