Letters : Thanks for Aiding in CPR Awareness

Share

As the volunteer CPR instructor who initiated the Los Angeles CPR Awareness Week, Oct. 20-26, proclaimed by Mayor Tom Bradley and endorsed by the City Council, I wish to thank publicly the organizations and some of the individuals involved in its varied activities.

These include Los Angeles City Fire Chief Paramedic Jon Fasana and Assistant Chief Paramedic Alan R. Cowen, who provided facilities of 12 fire stations to show the public videocassettes of the latest CPR techniques, with Red Cross instructors intermittently giving demonstrations; also Roger Donner, Red Cross safety specialist; Monica Marotta, KNX public service director, and other KNX personnel, for extraordinary promotion of CPR training; Marjelee Murrell, director, Beverly Hills CPR Program, who appointed instructors for a Directors Guild of America CPR class; Dr. Ruth Rich, director, Student Health Programs, Los Angeles Unified School District; Eugene Huber, assistant vice president, Security Pacific National Bank, who arranged extra CPR classes for employees; American Heart Assn., Greater Los Angeles Affiliate, for distributing several thousand informational kits with the newest CPR guidelines to instructors; Writers Guild of America, West CPR Program.

It is my hope that this is only the first of many future and even more successful annual Los Angeles CPR Awareness Weeks.
