Commodore International of West Chester, Pa., posted a profit in its September quarter over the June period, despite a seasonal sales decline, which demonstrated the firm’s success of cost reduction and management expenses control actions taken in the second half of fiscal 1986, the firm said. the company also increased its sales 11% in the September quarter versus the year-ago quarter and 23% in the last three quarters against the same year-ago period. This is principally a result of continuing new product sales growth, a spokesman said. Both Commodore’s higher-priced Amiga and PC IBM-compatible computers were important contributors to this growth, while Commodore’s 64C and 128 remained roughly equal to the year-ago quarter, the spokesman added.
