Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Martha Goldin reserved making a decision Wednesday on Calabasas High football player Demitrius Jones’ request for an order blocking the California Interscholastic Federation and Calabasas High from keeping him from playing.
Jones, a senior who turned 17 last month, was seeking a preliminary injunction against the CIF’s decision to deny him eligibility to play football because of an eight-semester rule.
Goldin set no date for her decision. Calabasas has only two games remaining on its regular-season schedule.
Jones, who did not play football until last season, repeated the 11th grade after he transferred from the Chicago city school system and is currently in his ninth high school semester.
