West Hollywood : Bomb Scare Delays Council
- Share via
A bomb scare delayed the Monday night session of the City Council for more than 40 minutes until demolition experts arrived to dismantle a harmless briefcase.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were called about 6:30 p.m. to an area behind the West Hollywood Park auditorium, where council meetings are often held. Summoned by several passers-by, the deputies found what they said was a “suspicious” green briefcase.
Uncertain about its contents, the deputies called for assistance from sheriff’s demolition experts, who exploded the briefcase about 7:40 p.m. The contents, according to demolitions expert Dep. Gary Stewart, were old music books.
