Santa Ana : Suspect Arrested in Car Theft, Murder Attempt

The suspect in an attempted murder and car theft in San Juan Capistrano, located and arrested in San Mateo, Calif., was booked into County Jail on Saturday.
A Sheriff’s Department spokesman said the man, identified as Mauricio Roberto Martinez, 21, of San Juan Capistrano was arrested without a struggle when he returned to the stolen car that was parked on a San Mateo street.
On Oct. 30 at 12:55 a.m., Martinez allegedly became involved in an argument in an alley with the victim, Teodoro Villegas Martinez, 23, of San Juan Capistrano, who was stabbed in the chest and face, the spokesman said. Martinez allegedly drove off in the victim’s car. The two men are not related.
Teodoro Martinez was treated and released from a nearby hospital.
Mauricio Martinez was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, the spokesman said.
