Malaysia Orders Pair to Hang for Drug Dealing

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia —
A court sentenced two laborers to death Friday for trafficking in 16.7 pounds of marijuana.
High Court Judge Mustapha Hussein said death by hanging was the only sentence he could hand down under Malaysia’s tough drug laws.
Since the introduction of the death penalty for drug trafficking in 1975, 41 people have been hanged, and another 135 are awaiting execution.
