A former San Luis Obispo County deputy district attorney was indicted in Los Angeles on charges of receiving magazines depicting children in sexually explicit poses. Robert Michael Rabe, 35, of Los Osos is named in the three-count indictment and charged with receiving “New School Action Boys and Girls” and “Lolita 51,” both allegedly mailed from the Netherlands. Assistant U.S. Atty. Joyce A. Karlin said the case grew out of a seizure of the materials by U.S. Customs agents. “They’re trained to recognize the way they’re packaged,” Karlin said. Karlin said other materials were involved but “these are the only two charged.” The indictment charges that Rabe used the mails for the receipt of the magazines on Aug. 7 and in July, 1984. Rabe was ordered to appear for arraignment in federal court on Nov. 24. A district attorney’s spokeswoman in San Luis Obispo would only confirm that Rabe was no longer employed there.
