King Clancy, 83, a Hockey Hall of Famer and Toronto Maple Leafs Executive, Dies

King Clancy, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, died Monday. He was 83.

Clancy, a vice president of the Toronto Maple Leafs, died in Wellesley Hospital after complications from surgery.

He had his gall bladder removed Saturday and was in critical condition in intensive care in the cardiac unit. He went into shock a few hours after the surgery, which was complicated by diabetes.

Clancy became ill last Wednesday while watching the Maple Leafs play the St. Louis Blues. He visited Wellesley Hospital as an out-patient Thursday and was readmitted Friday.

Clancy’s wife, Rachel, died in 1977. He is survived by sons Tommy and Terry, daughters Carol Anne and Judy, and six grandchildren.
