Teacher Is Sentenced: A former junior high school teacher who pleaded guilty to molesting a 12-year-old student was sentenced Thursday to six months in County Jail. Herbert Haruki Okamoto, 56, of Tustin also was given four years’ probation by Superior Court Judge James O. Perez. Okamoto, who taught at Vista del Rio Junior High School, pleaded guilty in September to molesting a female student during the 1984-85 school year. Okamoto resigned shortly after his arrest in May, 1985. He already had been suspended following an internal investigation shortly before his arrest. The girl had told school authorities he molested her in a woodshop class storage room.
