Pacifica 28, El Dorado 20--The Mariners kept their slim playoff chances alive by defeating the Golden Hawks in Placentia’s Bradford Stadium. Fourth-place Pacifica (4-3, 5-5) is hoping to gain a wild-card berth into the Southern Conference playoffs.
The Mariners had a balanced running attack, gaining 291 yards against El Dorado. Chris Campos’ nine-yard touchdown run with 1:31 remaining in the third period sealed the victory by giving the Mariners a 21-12 lead.
Chris Olsen had a big night for El Dorado (2-5, 2-8), scoring two touchdowns. His second came on a 64-yard screen pass from quarterback Doug Yates, the final score of the game.
Offensively, the Golden Hawks were limited to only 39 yards rushing and 158 total yards, compared to 340 for the Mariners. Pacifica running back Ray Willis had 154 yards in 26 carries and one touchdown.
