Hart Thrashes Schurr With Strong 2nd Half

Don’t let Hart 51, Schurr 27 fool you.
As bad as the final score reads, the game wasn’t even that close. Hart High, in fact, punctuated winning its Foothill League championship Friday night by overcoming a little adversity and, simply, dominating the game.
Tied 21-21 at halftime, a angry Hart team snapped on its chin straps and showed a feisty Schurr team what four previous league opponents already knew: Hart is bigger and better.
“Let’s face it, we’re good,” said Rick Scott, whose team finished the regular season 9-1 overall, 5-0 in the league. “We just came back out, played well and executed. We dominated.”
As usual, Hart quarterback Jim Bonds was the leader, completing 21 of 28 passes for four touchdowns and 283 yards. Fullback Andy Iacenda scored on three short touchdown runs at Montebello High.
In the second half, Iacenda and running mate Chris Hite established a running game to complement Bond’s passing. As a result, the Indians kept Schurr off balance.
