Bicyclist Dies After Collision With Car
A bicyclist was fatally injured in a traffic accident late Sunday night, and the driver who allegedly hit him was arrested for misdemeanor drunk driving, police said.
Police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas said the bicyclist, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was riding westbound in the 1000 block of East 4th Street when he was hit by a westbound car.
The bike rider was taken to Western Medical Center with major injuries and was pronounced dead shortly before midnight, Thomas said.
Thomas said the driver of the car, identified as Kevin Charles Burke, 36, of Westminster, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
