New U.S. Law on Immigration

Share

In regard to the new immigration law, I feel that the Congress has finally given away our home. If the people of the United States realized the true impact of this law, the cries of disapproval would be heard around the world.

Shortly before passage, self-serving congressmen managed to eliminate the enhancement of the Border Patrol, and added an amendment to grant permanent residence to illegal aliens who manage to evade arrest while working in the agriculture industry for as little as 90 days. To further thwart enforcement, Congress added restrictions requiring the Border Patrol to obtain a search warrant before entering an open field to speak to suspected illegal aliens, even though, on numerous occasions, the Supreme Court has ruled that warrants are an unnecessary burden on officers entering open fields to enforce our laws.

Without the enhancement of the Border Patrol, how will our borders be “sealed” and who will enforce the employer sanctions? The magnet attracting illegal immigration will still be there. The final effect of the bill, as passed, will be to grant permanent residence status to 13 million illegal aliens who, by their very presence here, show contempt for our laws, without slowing the invasion. Where will we be in 10 years?
