Central County : Prosecutor Gets Post as Municipal Judge

A county prosecutor was named a judge of the Municipal Court Friday by Gov. George Deukmejian.

Randell L. Wilkinson, 36, will take the bench in Central Orange County Municipal Court in three weeks.

Wilkinson joined the office of the Orange County district attorney after graduating from law school at Brigham Young University. He has prosecuted misdemeanor and felony criminal cases and worked on juvenile and appellate cases.

Wilkinson, a deputy district attorney since 1977, lives in Tustin with his wife and six children.

A Republican, he is the author of a law effective this year that allows prosecutors to seek increased punishment for drunk drivers who injure more than one person.

The salary for a Municipal Court judge is $74,432.
