WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Golden West Easily Beats Valley in Final of Fullerton Tournament

The Valley College women’s basketball team was defeated by Golden West, 74-56, Saturday night in the finals of the Fullerton invitational tournament.
Valley, which beat Fullerton, 71-53, Friday night to qualify for the finals, fell behind, 21-3, early in the game before rebounding to trail, 37-28 at halftime.
Golden West, however, built up a 20-point lead in the second half behind the strong performance of forward April Marion.
Marion finished with a game-high 24 points, while Valley’s Demetra Johnson tossed in 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Valley is 3-1.
Cal Poly SLO 73, Cal Lutheran 48-- Senior forward Janet Jorgensen scored 18 points while sophomore forward Trina Tualemosa added 14 points to lead Cal Poly San Luispo to a a win in its first win of the season.
Cal Lutheran was paced by senior forward Gloria Phillipps, who scored 19 points.
