La Palma : Polis Elected Mayor; Herman Is Vice Mayor
Richard Polis, a member of the City Council for the past two years and a former vice mayor, has been elected La Palma’s mayor.
Polis takes over from Keith Nelson, who has held the mayoral post the past year.
The new vice mayor is Larry Herman, who is serving his first year as on the City Council.
Both were elected last week at the City Council’s reorganization meeting.
Polis, a design engineer, has served on the Orange County Sanitation Board, the Cypress School District Advisory Committee and the Orange County Boy Scout Advisory Committee. He is a past president of the La Palma Homeowners’ Assn.
Herman, a laboratory supervisor, also is a former president of the La Palma Homeowners Assn. He served as a vice president of the Y-Westerners Council and was Y-Indian Guide “Father of the Year” in 1981-82.
