A Reseda man was killed and three others injured early Sunday in a three-car collision in North Hollywood, police said.

Los Angeles police Lt. Alan Kerstein said the accident occurred about 12:45 a.m. when a car driven by Ronald Lorigo, 26, of Van Nuys collided with a car at the intersection of Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.

Police are awaiting the results of a test for alcohol in Lorigo’s blood, Kerstein said. Detectives could decide by today whether to file felony vehicular manslaughter charges against Lorigo, Kerstein said.

Lorigo’s car, which was northbound on Coldwater Canyon, collided with a car that was eastbound on Chandler, Kerstein said. The accident forced the second car into a third car driven by Jason Peterson, 18, of North Hollywood.

The driver of the second car, Takita Kazunori, 33, was taken to Medical Center of North Hollywood, where he died about 2:25 a.m., authorities said. His passenger, Kazu Tsuchihasmi, 26, was admitted to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. He was listed in satisfactory condition Sunday afternoon.

Lorigo was also taken to St. Joseph and was listed in good condition Sunday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Peterson was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Kerstein said.

Two of the injured were trapped in the wreckage for about 20 minutes before they could be rescued, said Jim Wells, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
