U.S. Economic Outlook for ‘87: a 3% Upswing

The U.S. economy will continue to expand at a moderate pace in 1987, with an upswing in exports, a private business research organization predicted Sunday.

The Conference Board’s Economic Forum forecast a 3% rise in real economic growth. It also said that unemployment will be eased by 6.7%, the inflation rate will inch upward to 3.8%, the prime rate will be 7.6% and corporate profits will rise 6.5%, compared to the last quarter of 1986.
