Volcano Lava Flow Forces Hawaiian Families to Flee

VOLCANO, Hawaii —
Lava oozing from Kilauea Volcano crept toward homes in a coastal village Tuesday and forced five families to evacuate, authorities said. Hawaii County Civil Defense Administrator Harry Kim said the front edge of the flow was 200 yards from the closest home in Kapaahu on the southeast side of the island of Hawaii.
