Don Shula ended several months of speculation by signing a new contract as coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Dolphin owner Joe Robbie announced the signing, giving no specifics on length or terms of the deal. Shula’s current contract was to expire at the end of this season, his 17th with the Dolphins.
Reports had Shula going everywhere from Tampa Bay to Green Bay. He said none of those stories had any basis in fact.
Shula’s previous contract covered three years and paid him $750,000 per season.
