The City Council has voted final approval for a plan to grant jurisdiction of 74 acres near Buzzard Peak to Los Angeles County in exchange for $650,000 that will be used to help finance improvements along Temple Avenue east of Grand Avenue and through the Mt. San Antonio College District.

The undeveloped acreage, owned by Val Verde Development Co. and First Interstate Bank, went under county jurisdiction on Nov. 14, after the council formally approved the exchange. The county requested the acreage two years ago after negotiating with the city for the money.

The $1.6-million Temple Avenue project, which calls for widening the street and installation of storm drains, curbs and gutters, was approved by the council last month.

Sully-Miller Contracting Co. of Compton has already begun work on the project and it is expected to be completed by the end of 1987, City Manager Linda Holmes said.
