Pasadena : College Search Extended

Share

The search for a new president for Pasadena City College has been extended to give candidates until Jan. 31 to apply.

The college board of trustees approved the extension on the recommendation of the Assn. of Community College Trustees (ACCT), which is conducting the search for a replacement for retiring President John W. Casey.

Casey originally had planned to leave on Dec. 31 because of a back injury suffered in an automobile accident. But a college spokesman said he had agreed to stay until a new president takes over July 1.

Trustees association representatives said that many potential candidates declined to apply before the original mid-October deadline, awaiting the outcome of the vote on Proposition 61, which would have limited the president’s salary. Other potential candidates declined to apply saying they could not leave their positions in the middle of the school year.
