Sheriff’s deputies and health department officials on Saturday investigated the death of a dapple-gray Appaloosa horse that was allegedly dragged to its death by a pick-up truck driven by its owner. Edward Hardwick, 46, was arrested Friday night after deputies said they saw the 15-hands-high horse die while it was attached by its bridle to a trailer hitch on the back of his pick-up, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy Bob Nimtz. Deputy Sam Jones said the horse died after deputies arrived at an intersection after several witnesses reported seeing a horse being dragged behind a truck.
