Australian Rodger Davis, twice the runner-up, finally won the New Zealand Open golf tournament with a final-round 72 at Auckland, New Zealand.
Davis’ 72-hole score of 267 was 13 strokes under par and three strokes better than Curtis Strange (72) and Australian Bob Shearer (66), who tied for second. Last year’s winner, D.A. Weibring (74) and Peter Senior (66) of Australia shared fourth place, six shots back.
