A $2-million season-ending event, the richest ever in professional golf, will be played in October, probably in San Antonio, Tex.
The tournament, with a 30-man field competing for a $360,000 first prize, the most lucrative in tour history, will be sponsored by RJR Nabisco Brands.
Under the new format, only the 30 leaders on a season-long points list will be eligible to compete in the Nabisco Championships of Golf.
