Witness Quotes ‘Twilight’ Director as Telling a Complainer ‘to Shut Up’

A hair stylist on the “Twilight Zone” movie set testified Thursday that she overheard director John Landis gruffly tell a script supervisor “to shut up” when the supervisor told him that a filming sequence appeared too dangerous to shoot.

Stylist Virginia Kearns, the 51st witness in the long-running involuntary manslaughter trial of Landis and four associates, said the exchange took place no more than two hours before actor Vic Morrow and two child actors were struck and killed by a helicopter during the shooting of the sequence.

Kearns said the script supervisor, Katherine Wooten, told Landis that “they shouldn’t do the shot--it was too dangerous--and John told her to shut up.”

Deputy Dist. Atty. Lea Purwin D’Agostino said Wooten is expected to testify next week, when the trial enters its 14th week in Los Angeles Superior Court.
