Fullerton : Parents Offer Reward in Hit-and-Run Death

Share

It’s been six months since a hit-and-run driver fatally injured 2-year-old Allison McClennen in front of her Fullerton home.

Frustrated by a lack of information, her parents are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person driving what they believe was a late-model beige or cream-colored Honda. The accident took place in the 1400 block of West Houston Avenue at 5 p.m. on June 8. Posters announcing the reward are being distributed around the county.

So far, the Police Department has been unable to track down the driver, believed to be a 20- to 25-year-old woman with straight brown or black hair that was collar-length.

“Without a license plate, it’s really impossible to (find someone),” said Officer Kevin Scanlon, who has been assigned to the McClennen case. He said the posters put up by the family have brought in some “real shallow” leads, but “we need something more concrete.” On that Sunday afternoon, Allison was on the front porch with her mother, Kathy, who lost sight of her daughter for a moment and found her lying in the street.

The little girl suffered major head injuries and spent nine days in intensive care before she died. Her parents donated her heart to Loma Linda Medical Center, where it was transplanted into an ailing boy.
