Quarterback Vinny Testaverde, whose passing helped No. 1-ranked University of Miami compile an 11-0 regular-season record, is expected to win the 52nd annual Heisman Trophy today as the nation’s outstanding college football player.
The Downtown Athletic Club, which sponsors the award, also invited Oklahoma linebacker Brian Bosworth; Temple tailback Paul Palmer, the nation’s leading rusher; Holy Cross tailback-defensive back Gordie Lockbaum, a rare two-way performer; Michigan quarterback Jim Harbaugh, and Penn State tailback D.J. Dozier to its banquet in New York.
