Bomb Blast Damages El Monte Residences

A bomb exploded Sunday in a residential El Monte neighborhood, damaging a garage roof, driveway and door and shattering a neighbor’s window across the street, police said.
No one was injured, said Police Sgt. Mark Howard.
The explosion at Rael Rickert’s home was reported at 5:49 a.m. and the Los Angeles County sheriff’s bomb squad assisted the fire and police departments in the investigation, Howard said.
Police said they knew of no motive and still were trying to determine the type of device used.
“It apparently was not the shrapnel type. It was probably more the TNT, dynamite type,” Howard said.
