U.S. Workers Get Dec. 26 Off

WASHINGTON —
President Reagan decided today to designate Friday, Dec. 26, as a federal holiday, giving government workers an extended Christmas weekend.
“In order to assist federal employees and their families in making their holiday season plans, the President today has decided to designate Dec. 26, 1986, as a federal holiday,” the White House announced.
