CAMPO — Five illegal aliens and a Border Patrol agent were injured Tuesday when a Border Patrol truck transporting the aliens ran into a rock alongside California 94 eight miles east of here, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Rosalo Huerte, 27, suffered a broken right arm and Serefin Lopez, 26, suffered a broken left foot. Agent Samuel Rios, who was driving to the Campo Border Patrol station, suffered a cut lip and a broken tooth and was treated at the scene, officials said.
Huerte, Lopez and the three other aliens, who had minor injuries, were taken to AMI Valley Medical Center in El Cajon, officials said.
The Border Patrol will pay for the aliens’ medical treatment and will investigate the accident, said Wayne Kirkpatrick, a Border Patrol spokesman.
