Lynne and Frank Barbaro of Laguna Beach hosted a fund-raiser recently on behalf of the Children’s Alliance, a statewide nonprofit organization providing educational support services to children’s organizations and associations to inform the media and the general public on issues and policies affecting children.

The long-range objective of the alliance is to make quality child care available to every child in need of the service. Special guest at the affair was Sue Brock, Alliance founder and former lobbyist for child care in Sacramento.

The event was sponsored by Focus of Orange County, a group of seven women--Barbaro among them--who decided to combine efforts to focus on county issues.

Three musical prodigies from the San Diego area performed at the affair.

“The Nutcracker” was the theme for the recent holiday brunch staged by People for an Irvine Community Hospital.

Six hundred guests, many entire families, gathered at the Irvine Marriott Sunday to dine, watch jugglers, mimes and marionettes and view a huge Christmas tree decorated with original ornaments made by family members.

The event raised $15,000.

Twenty-two young women made their society debuts recently on behalf of the Newport chapter of the National Charity League. Making their debuts at the Westin South Coast Plaza were Brandy Bennett, Nancy Coyne, Corey Crook, Theresa Egan, Kathleen Forrest, Julie Garrett, Susan Garrett, Victoria Krasel, Kathryn Kuhn, Jana Liechty, Kimberly McGuinness, Jennifer Merrell, Jennifer Retoske, Julie Rich, Trisha Roys, Heidi Schmidt, Anne Schock, Shannon Scholes, Sydney Spragins, Brooke Stanley, Jill Tyler and Jane VanSteenhuyse.
