Women’s Basketball Roundup : Brown, VanEmbricqs Lead Unbeaten UCLA Past USD

Guard Jaime Brown came off the bench to score 14 points and help UCLA score a 65-42 victory over the University of San Diego Saturday at John Wooden Center.

The Bruins led, 27-22, at halftime and then held the Toreros to 29% shooting in the second half.

Sandra VanEmbricqs scored 13 points for the Bruins (4-0).

San Diego (2-4) was led by Julie Evans and Jane Gilpin, who scored 12 points apiece.

UCLA will play host to Cal State Long Beach Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Cal State Long Beach 97, Texas A&M; 71--Cindy Brown had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Penny Toler scored 25 points to lead the 49ers to victory in the championship game of the Long Beach Dial tournament at Cal State Long Beach.

Long Beach, leading, 43-41, early in the second half, outscored the Aggies, 21-6, over the next seven minutes to take command of the contest.

Bettina Turner added 18 points for Long Beach (6-1).

Paula Crutcher had 18 points for Texas A&M; (3-4).
