Why aren’t there any really good shows that realistically portray the lives of teens? We aren’t the sex-craved maniacs we are thought to be. We also aren’t the stereotypical images always shown on the screen. Not all of us are just smart or athletic. A lot of us are a lot of different things. Shows should portray the realities of adolescence. There’s a lot of fear, uncertainties and problems with being young today. “The Facts of Life” has helped, but problems are not solved that easy or fast. I also resent the idea that just because sensitive issues such as suicide or teen sex are shown to us, we’re going to go out and do it. Television can teach as well as entertain. There is a lot more to us than what is being shown on TV.
