An man apparently enraged by insults three men shouted at him about his driving skills Sunday afternoon turned his car around in a Santa Ana residential neighborhood and shot one of them in the head before speeding away, police said.

Dan L. Parassons, 24, of Santa Ana, was listed in critical condition at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where he was rushed after the 5:48 p.m. attack, Police Lt. Jack Nelson said. Nelson said the two other men were not injured.

Parassons and his friends were walking down the street in the 700 block of South Flintridge Drive when they shouted at a man driving a yellow Fiat, Nelson said.

“Some sort of shouting match went on, like ‘Hey, why don’t you learn how to drive,’ and some racial slurs were exchanged,” Nelson said.

The motorist drove down the street, Nelson said, and turned around and drove back by, shooting Parassons--the nearest to the curb--in the head.

There was no license plate on the Fiat, which was believed to have a dented right side, Nelson said. The gunman, who never got out of his car, was described as a male Asian who appeared to be in his mid-30s.
