The Region : L.A. Joins Latin Peace Award Ceremony

Los Angeles was one of eight cities involved in an international satellite presentation of a world peace award to the presidents of four Latin American countries who have been spearheading the Contadora negotiations aimed at bringing peace to Nicaragua and El Salvador. Mayor Tom Bradley joined 1,800 other people at the Scottish Rite Auditorium for the local phase of the ceremonies honoring the presidents of Mexico, Venezuela, Panama and Colombia. The award for the Contadora efforts came from the Beyond War organization. Mexico’s secretary of state, Bernardo Sepulveda, was present for the Los Angeles ceremony.
