Manny Mota, the Dodgers’ first-base coach and hitting instructor, was admitted to Centinela Hospital Medical Center for what the team called an undisclosed illness.

Mota, who apparently had been complaining of dizziness in recent days, underwent various tests. But Dodger spokesman Steve Brener said the tests were negative and that Mota, 48, is expected to be released today.

At Mota’s request, the Dodgers flew him from the Dominican Republic to Los Angeles for treatment. Mota had been managing Escogido in the Dominican winter league when he started feeling ill. He is expected to return to the team sometime this week.
