The company said a member of the slate of directors led by Bruce E. Hendry sought to enter the company’s property in Fontana for the purpose of holding a board meeting, but was refused. Company officials said they were shocked and noted that a Delaware judge has scheduled a Jan. 7 hearing on a motion filed by Hendry to certify his slate the winners in the recently contested board election. “The company refuses to recognize Hendry’s right to hold this meeting, or his right to be on Kaiser’s property and will not participate in these unauthorized meetings,” said Monty H. Rial, chairman and chief executive of Kaiser Steel.
