Egypt and Israel Agree on Better Phone Links
Egypt and Israel have agreed to improve telephone links and discuss ways to avoid radio and television jamming, Israeli Communications Minister Amnon Rubinstein said Tuesday.
He told reporters after a one-hour meeting with Foreign Minister Esmat Abdel Meguid that direct telephone dialing will be set up in a matter of months. Calls between the two countries now go through an operator.
Egypt and Israel also use similar radio and television transmission frequencies, and they agreed to coordinate policies in this area.
