Scratchy, faded signals hampered the satellite-relayed communications of the experimental aircraft Voyager as it neared the Malay Peninsula today more than 9,300 miles from its ground crew at Mojave, Calif. Voyager, slightly ahead of schedule, was cruising smoothly at 7,000 feet, with clear skies above and scattered clouds below in its attempt to circle the earth without refueling, spokesman Bob Brubaker said. The crew’s last report was pieced together after static-clouded messages were repeated.
