Hermosa Beach : Free Parking in City Lots

Share

In a move designed “revitalize at least the spirit of existing (downtown) businesses,” as council member June Rosenberger put it, the City Council voted Tuesday to allow free parking in city lots during January and to suspend until the end of January the two-hour limit in those lots.

The gesture is expected to cost the city between $9,000 and $10,000 in lost revenue.

Though he voted in favor of the measure, Mayor Tony DeBellis said he wished Hermosa’s tinkering with parking regulation would end.

“We’ve bent over backwards to help downtown merchants” he said. “I would like to get to the point where we leave things alone, and then maybe we’d be able to explain our (parking) policy.”
