A brief rebellion by some University of Washington football players against a practice during final-examinations week ended when coaches threatened to leave the players behind on the Huskies’ Sun Bowl trip.

The six team captains said players complained about having to practice during finals, which ended Thursday, and reportedly had demanded that Wednesday’s practice be cut back or called off.

But 15 minutes after meeting with Coach Don James, the six captains, along with eight other players who had left the field, rejoined their teammates.
