John Ziegler Jr., NHL president, has suspended New York Islander assistant coach Bob Nystrom for 10 games for confronting a fan in the stands following a game.
Nystrom went after a fan who threw beer on him following the Islanders-New Jersey Devils game at Brendan Byrne Arena Dec. 11. Nystrom held the fan until security personnel arrived.
Ziegler called the fan’s action “cowardly,” but said Nystrom violated a league rule by entering a spectator area.
