A man linked to two Christmas Eve bank robberies was shot when he allegedly pulled a gun on Long Beach police officers who went to his apartment to question him, authorities said. The suspect, Larry Donnell George, 28, was treated at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center for an elbow wound. George allegedly reached for a shotgun as the officers came through the open door of his Parade Street apartment, police said. Police were searching for a man wanted in connection with bank robberies Wednesday in Long Beach and Stanton, authorities said. In one robbery, a man held up a Security Pacific National Bank branch in Long Beach, but failed to get any money when a booby-trapped money bag exploded. Police said the robber shouted as he ran out of the bank, “Tell the police the Orange County Kid was here.” Later that day, a lone gunman entered a Bank of America branch in Stanton, shot a security guard in the arm and took an undetermined amount of money.
