Nebraska Gov. Robert Kerrey, who did not run for reelection, will become a visiting lecturer at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 8, the day after his term expires. Kerrey, 43, a Navy veteran who lost part of a leg in the Vietnam War, will teach a course that studies the Vietnam War’s past, present and future effects on America. Kerrey, a Democrat, will also teach a course in state government during the 10-week winter quarter, but he said the main reason for coming to UCSB is the Vietnam class. The governor, a Medal of Honor winner, was an outspoken critic of the conflict in Southeast Asia.
