VENUES OFFERING COMEDY REGULARLY

Here is a listing of Orange County spots that regularly present comedy:

Cal State Fullerton (The Pub, 800 N. State College Blvd., Fullerton, (714) 773-3501). Comedy Night is offered the first Friday of each month when school is in session. Shows are at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Cost is $4.50 ($3.50 for students) in advance, $5 at the door.

Gladstones 4 Fish (900 Bayside Drive, Newport Beach, (714) 760-0971). Comedy is offered each Monday. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $3 to $5.

The Hop (18774 Brookhurst St., Fountain Valley, (714) 963-2366). Singer-comedian Jason Chase performs a 15-minute segment during the club’s rock ‘n’ roll production each Tuesday. Show starts at 8 p.m. Cost is $3.

Kartoon’s & Kaper’s (919 S Knott Ave., Anaheim, (714) 220-2166). Comedy is offered each Tuesday. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. Cost is $2.

Laff Stop (2122 S.E. Bristol St., Newport Beach, (714) 852-8762). Comedy is offered each night. Shows are at 8:30 p.m, Monday through Thursday; 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., Friday; 8, 10 and 11:45 p.m., Saturday. Cost is usually between $4 and $9.

The Newporter Resort (1107 Jamboree Road, Newport Beach, (714) 644-1700). Comedy is offered each Monday. Shows have been starting at approximately 9:30 p.m., but an earlier time will be established now that Monday Night Football is over). Admission is free.

Rusty Pelican (190 S. State College Blvd., Brea, (714) 671-3020). Comedy is offered each Tuesday. Show starts at 9 p.m. Admission is free.

UC Irvine (Heritage Room, University Center, UCI campus (714) 856-5547). Comedy is offered about three times a quarter when school is in session, usually on Thursday. Shows feature either professional comics or, when organized by the UCI Comedy Club, eight student comics and one or two professional headliners. Show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
