NEW YORK — “Paper Chase,” the high-toned serial about the pursuit of a law degree, has been picked up by the CBN Cable Network in hopes of producing some “upscale demographics.”
CBN Cable, a for-profit subsidiary of the nonprofit Christian Broadcasting Network, has acquired all 58 episodes of the program: 16 produced for CBS, six for PBS and 36 by Showtime.
John Houseman, who made his film-acting debut in the movie and created what appears to be a lifelong persona as the intimidating Prof. Charles Kingsfield Jr., also starred in the series. James Stephens, Tom Fitzsimmons and James Keane were the struggling students in the TV version.
