TOTO’S PASSION PLAY
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: A Los Angeles Times’ music critic once again proves to be incapable of fairly judging Toto’s music (“Toto, a Very Predictable Evening,” by Steve Hochman, Dec. 22).
Perhaps it’s Hochman who lacks character and feeling, not Toto. Their performance was full of feeling and it was obvious that they get as much enjoyment out of playing as their fans do listening to them. Hochman should listen to Toto’s studio recordings again--their live show offered some refreshing arrangements of old favorites.
I guess Toto’s music and their fans are just too passionate for any of The Times’ critics to understand.
