President Reagan and the ‘Iran Deception’
- Share via
In The Times report (Dec. 22), “Iran Scandal a Severe Test for Reagan,” associates of the President acknowledge that “Reagan genuinely does not see any contradiction of espousing a policy of not dealing with terrorists, while at the same time authorizing arms sales to Iran.” The enormity of such a condition stuns me!
A picture of the President, dabbing his eyes during the memorial ceremony for the 253 Marines so brutally blasted, with Ayatollah Khomeini’s aid, comes to my mind. Did Reagan truly understand this country’s great loss or was he concerned only with his TV appearance before the nation?
I suggest that he be given the names and addresses of those Marines’ families so that he can personally explain to them why he feels there is no incompatibility of these measures.
